    WHAT IS LONG TERM CARE?

    Long Term Care service is designed to help individuals who suffer from chronic conditions overcome the limitations that keep them from being independent. These services may include, but are not limited to, activities of daily living (ADL), home health care, respite care, adult day care, and selected care in a nursing home or assisted living facility.

    HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

    The cost of long-term care can be very expensive and prohibitive. The average cost in 1997 was close to $50,000. Most major medical health insurance plans will not pay for these services. Usually, individuals pay for long term care through the use of personal resources, assistance from Medicaid and long-term care insurance.

    HOW CAN LONG TERM CARE INSURANCE HELP?

    Long Term Care insurance will pay for some or all of your long term cares needs. These needs may develop gradually as you find that you increasingly need help with daily living activities. Or, you may suffer a major illness such as a stroke or a heart attack in which case the need for long term care my be immediate or sudden.
